Ashton-in-Makerfield Golf Club aims to operate a contemporary and forward-thinking dress policy, commensurate with a modern day golf club. It is in all our interests to maintain reasonable standards of casual but smart dress in keeping with golfing traditions. Appropriate behaviour - such as playing to the rules and spirit of the game when on the course and being respectful and considerate towards others, whether on or off the course - is far more important than how individuals are dressed. The aim is to promote a smart yet relaxed atmosphere in the clubhouse.
What this means is we ask everyone to be smart, neat and clean, both on and off the course. It is hoped that everyone will assist in maintaining the high standards of both dress and behaviour, expected both on the Course and in the Clubhouse.
All clothing should be smart, neat and clean. In this context; “neat†means without holes, patches, frayed hems or split knees, “clean†means odourless, stain-free and dry.
Everyone should wear recognised golf clothing, including golf shoes, when playing or practicing: if it is on sale in the Pro shop (or another golf shop), it is fit to wear on the course. Gentlemen's shirts should be tucked in.
Shoes worn on the course can be worn in the locker rooms and Mixed Lounge, provided they are clean.
Golf clothes can be worn in the Clubhouse after playing, providing they are clean; the Clubhouse has good changing facilities that can be used as required.
Smart denim can be worn in the Clubhouse.
Hats must not be worn inside the Clubhouse
Casual shoes, including trainers, loafers, deck shoes and sandals (with or without back-straps) are welcome.
Vests, singlets, gym-wear, tracksuits, football and rugby shirts/shorts are not allowed.
Combat or Cargo Trousers/Shorts are not allowed.
Footwear must be worn at all times in the lounges.
Organised Social Events will set their own dress code, which must be respected.
